Poem for Alex,
when he hurt his foot
There’s
a little boy we know
Who’s cute as cute can be;
He’s sometimes timid, sometimes shy;
But very brave is he.
Now, this small lad,
(Alex, his name)
In troubles and trials
Puts us to shame--
Facing doctors and nurses
With nary a twinge;
While we, looking on,
Do nothing but cringe!--
Still he smiles ever sweetly
At all the ones near him,
And assures the same people
Who are trying to cheer him:
“I’m getting much better!
I’m really quite fine!”
With a spirit like that,
This boy’s bound to shine!
Dear Alex, we love you,
And we want you to know:
When you trust Jesus like you do,
With you He’ll surely go.
