Our Friends'
20th
Wedding Anniversary
Sometimes through gladness,
Sometimes through strife--
Sometimes through strife--
That’s how it goes
With a husband and wife.
You’ve promised loyalty,
Whether richer or poorer;
And tried to adapt
To homebody, explorer.
The little ones grow
Faster than fast;
They learn to drive;
You watch, aghast.
Now treasure each other,
For it’s been twenty years!
And things can’t get worse,
(Or so it appears),
And if you hang in there,
And don’t fizzle out,
You’ll soon come to see--
(There isn’t a doubt)--
’Though your mate isn’t perfect,
And you’re argument-prone,
It just isn’t good
When man is alone!
