Maria Esther 3-29-94
Sweet little baby, we’re so glad she’s here;
She’s soft and cuddly, and ever so dear!
Innocent and helpless, this infant so small,
Demands your love, your time, your all.
But babies stay babies a very short while;
She’ll learn, e’er you know it, just how to beguile
Father and mother and grandparents, too;
And you will wonder whatever to do
When a beseeching smile on a cute little face
Of your stern resolve removes every trace!
Just love her, and love her, and love her some more;
After all: LITTLE GIRLS!--That’s what they’re for!
I wrote this poem when baby Maria was born, never dreaming she would one day be my sweet daughter-in-law, wife of my dear son Caleb. She just had her 21st birthday.
